Shannon and Nigel’s Beachside Wedding in Jamaica!!

June 13, 2015

Shannon looks absolutely stunning in her ivory Pronovias lace and tulle A-line gown! This gown has a sweetheart neckline and flowing tulle skirt with godets, that gives soft movement to the entire dress. Shannon accented her look with a grosgrain ribbon sash with crystal embellishments, her grandmother’s pearl necklace and  her mother’s pearl earrings. Nigel wore his late-father’s belt. We love how even the wedding was just the two of them, they wanted to wear a few pieces that kept their family with them.

Shannon was able to fill us in on the details behind this gorgeous wedding:

“Nigel, my husband, and I got married in Jamaica on February 3, 2015. We decided our dream wedding would consist of just the two of us, spending 11 amazing days at the Sandals Negril Resort in Negril, Jamaica. As Sandals refers to it, we celebrated our Weddingmoon with them. We had an afternoon wedding at 1pm, in the Ocean-view beachfront gazebo, with an evening private candlelight dinner for the two of us on the beach at sunset.

The morning of our wedding the weather was a bit over-cast. The rain began to fall while I was in the salon getting my hair and make-up down. But thankfully the rain had stopped by the time I was ready to walk out to the gazebo. Once our ceremony was over, we walked over to the Garden gazebo for our champagne and hors d'oeuvre reception. As soon as we got under the cover of the gazebo, the rain started to fall again. But with the excitement of eating our wedding cake and toasting to our wedding, we didn't even have time to notice. Miraculously, as soon as our reception was over, the rain stopped again enabling our photographer to take photos of us throughout the resort grounds. Our photographer was so friendly and fun that even my husband, who has never understood the need for photos, didn't complain once during the two hour photo session. In fact, I even think he enjoyed it lol! Once we were all photo'd out, we headed back to our hotel room to find our butler had completely done up our room. Our bed was covered with fresh flowers, there were chocolate covered fruits waiting for us, and a bubble bath with flowers floating in the water and a chilled bottle of champagne waiting. Around 6pm we made our way to our candlelight dinner on the beach. We had a menu designed just for us and our own server who ensured our meal and the whole experience was perfect, and just the way we had imagined it to be.

A highlight of the ceremony was when I walked into the wedding gazebo. As soon as I saw Nigel standing there I could not help, but to cry. He had the biggest smile on his face. He looked happier than I had ever seen him. Thankfully our wedding photographer was able to get a picture of that moment. Nigel and I also decided to write our own wedding vows. I had ordered personalized vow books for us to write them down in, as a keepsake. It felt so intimate just to have the two of us standing there pledging our love and devotion to each other.

There were a few particularly amusing moments that happened regarding our wedding. I had previously bought a beautiful veil, from Ladybelle, to match my wedding dress. During my final dress alteration a week before my wedding, I had wrapped my veil in tissue paper and placed it inside the box with my wedding shoes, knowing as long as I packed my wedding shoes I couldn't forget my veil. So much for the best laid plans lol! When I went to pack my shoes, I remember opening the box and wondering why I had so much tissue paper inside the box. Of course in that moment, I completely forgot about my veil, pulled out the extra tissue paper and threw it on my bed, where it remained until we returned from Jamaica. As my photographer said, the bright-side is I can save my veil for 'special' anniversary photos lol!

I was obviously not meant to where all the 'traditional' pieces on my wedding day. I had, had a white lace with blue ribbon garter belt made for me, but I'm guessing it was made just a smidgen too big. As I was walking to the gazebo for my wedding ceremony I could feel my garter moving slightly on my thigh. Obviously with the excitement of my wedding ceremony I didn't think about my garter again until our reception when I realized I was no longer wearing my garter. Somehow the garter belt had fallen completely down my leg, and I had obviously stepped out of it without even noticing. It made my husband and I laugh to know that somewhere on the resort grounds, someone found a stray garter belt waiting to be found.

We had our cake-topper made for us. It is actually one of our favourite things from our wedding. The British bulldog represents Nigel and the panda bear, myself. Each aspect of the topper was specifically designed by us to represent parts, or attributes of our relationship. It was actually a huge hit with the resort wedding team.

We loved every minute of our wedding day, and our entire Weddingmoon. We truly believe, and know, we were blessed to have had such an incredible experience. We have both agreed that there was not one single moment we would want changed or altered in anyway. It was exactly the perfect wedding day for the two of us!”

Shannon and Nigel we were honoured to play a part in your special day and we wish you both a lifetime of love, health and happiness!!
